Christian Education

Everything we do at BSLS is done through the Word of God and the love of Jesus. However, there are specific regular things we do to reflect that.

BSLS students start with a daily devotion first thing in the morning to kickstart their day with God’s love.

In addition to chapel services held on Wednesday mornings for the entire school community, the Christian Education at BSLS permeates the school day. The day is opened with the singing of O Canada followed by Luther’s Morning Prayer, and each of the classes pray before meals. We teach one another to handle/solve problems through the practice of repentance and forgiveness. In this way we seek to put into practice the forgiveness and love which we have received from God.

Our Christian Education program continues as students start their classes by studying stories and events of the Bible and seeing the Grace of God through these stories. The students are encouraged to memorize Bible passages, as well as the Ten Commandments, the Lord’s Prayer and the Apostles’ Creed.

BSLS chapel services are held on Wednesday mornings at 9:00 a.m. for daycare-Grade 5 and 9:40 a.m. for grades 6-10. Our chapel services involve many different components that have been specifically planned to engage the students and to help the children understand and hear about God’s love.

Chapel

BSLS chapel services are held on Wednesday mornings at 9:00 a.m. for daycare-Grade 5 and 9:40 a.m. for grades 6-10. Both services are ran by Pastor Cameron Schnarr, who is also the Pastor of our parent church BSLC.

Our chapel services involve many different components that have been specifically planned to engage the students and to help the children understand and hear about God’s love.

Each year there are various themes and messages throughout our chapel services such as forgiveness and repentance. However, we always have a main theme for each year; stay tuned for what this upcoming school year’s theme will be.

At chapel, there are responsibilities given to each classroom throughout the year for all students to participate in when possible. The responsibilities this year are the candle lighters, candle extinguishers, Bible verse readers, chapel artists, prayer readers and of course, singing and doing the actions to the many songs we sing. We are always interested if a student is interested in playing violin, piano, or sharing another talent during our chapel services to enhance our student involvement.

Our 2026-27 chapel schedule is coming soon. Stay tuned!
